Elements of Creativity at The Castle of Good Hope 2026

This year, the Annual New Rising Arts Competition & Exhibition will be proudly hosted in The Castle of Good Hope from 1-4 October with over R70 000 worth of prizes up for grabs for individual artists and participating schools!

Competition Entries

Submit your artwork and be part of a curated exhibition alongside local talent. Open to all ages, from young creators to adults, this is your chance to showcase your work, gain recognition, and stand a chance to win prizes including a year’s scholarship to New Rising Arts and Art Materials Sets.

Inter-schools Art

Get your students involved in the competition with minimal admin to schools, entries can be completed independently or in class. Schools can also submit collections of student work to be exhibited (outside of the competition), and may use participation as a fundraising opportunity.

Emerging & Established Artists

Join us as a collaborator and exhibit alongside a wide range of talent in a multi-disciplinary, immersive space. This is an opportunity to contribute to the creative direction, connect with new audiences, and support the next generation of artists.

Local Businesses

Partner with us to support the exhibition through sponsorship, materials, or services, and gain visibility within a high-impact community event. Be part of building a meaningful cultural experience in the heart of Cape Town.

Competion Categories

This year’s theme invites artists of all ages to explore how creativity flows, grows, moves, and ignites.

Each age group is inspired by one of the four natural elements — with a set of power words to guide your artwork. Use these words as inspiration for your concept, mood, and message.

Prizes

Prizes: The prizes for the competition are as follows and can be collected from The Studio during November 2026 between 9am-4pm Mon-Fri. Prizes not collected by 30 November 2026 will be forfeited.

  • Castle entry applies:
    • Adults: R50
    • Children: R25
      (Includes full access to the Castle grounds)
