About Us
Our Story
In 2020 Managing owner & Performance Arts teacher Tashai Simons started her own Arts Academy called New Rising Arts in a little hall in Milnerton, after working as the Arts HOD in a local school for 3 years. She started with 2 students and grew to teach Dance, Drama, Piano, Vocals, Flexinastix, and Visual Arts in the local scouts hall in 2021. In 2022 New Rising Enterprises teamed up with private investors for 2.5 years, to scale our creative business to a new level in our own venue at The Studio, Milnerton.
From humble beginnings to now; We currently have a team of 15 incredibly talented and passionate educators who teach over 48 different classes every week! Our aim, as always, is not competition, nor perfection, but rather creating a safe, supportive & inspiring space for adults and children to grow their creative passion in Milnerton. We are the only place where you can do Saxophone, Trombone, Drums, Guitar, Bass, Vocals, Dance, Drama, Film Production, Pottery, Flexinastix, Kids Parties, Corporate Team Building & Year End events, Holiday programs, Specialist Workshops, or even host your own offering in 1 central, safe & well-equipped space!

Our Vision & Mission
To create a well-equipped creative space, in a great location, with admin & marketing support for creative teachers & facilitators to build their own sustainable income, collaborate, and work together to offer the community of Milnerton performance & visual arts lessons, creative events, entertainments and team building for kids and adults, where students & clients feel safe, supported & excited about learning skills at their own pace while developing healthy passions.

- Ramaine Barreiro-Lloyd is a dynamic and versatile performer & teacher with a 40-year career spanning vocals, acting, directing, producing, and choreography. She has performed in numerous local and international venues, including an extended stint in the UAE. She has also directed and choreographed for the Barnyard Theatre Group and AmaZink Live. As the owner of RBL Productions, she offers a variety of entertainment services for corporate and private events, focusing on talent development and youth projects.

- A dedicated and versatile member of our support staff, fulfilling multiple roles including Aftercare Teacher, Class Assistant, Event Support Staff, and Creative Holiday Club Facilitator. She holds her Level 1 First Aid Certification, an Aupair Certificate from Training Centre, a Computer Literacy and Office Administration qualification from Silulo Academy, and a Care Giver Certificate from Robertson Sobukwe College.

- Vonnita is a dedicated childcare assistant with a calm and friendly demeanor. She has a true passion for working with children and provides invaluable assistance in several of our classes, aftercare, and holiday programs. In addition to her outstanding work with children, Vonnita runs decor and co-ordinates our kiddies parties & also helps us maintain a beautiful and organized studio.

- As the CEO's personal assistant, Tehila is at the heart of every department, gaining extensive experience in the arts and culture industry. From shadowing our leader on film sets, school outings, and networking events to supporting community outreach initiatives, her role is as dynamic as it is inspiring. Her current responsibilities include administration and communication, class assistance, event coordination, and facilitating our Creative Holiday Club.

- Devine has taken over the accounts with ease and finesse since joining our team in April 2024. She is a driven up-and-coming professional with a marketing and branding background. Holding certifications in Digital Marketing and E-commerce, she has honed skills in market trend research, social media marketing, content creation, and graphic design. Devine is our Beginner Violin Teacher with her Grade 5 ABRSM Music Qualifications, and over a decade of performance in a church orchestra.

- Qualifications: 2020 Waterfront Theater College - Advanced levels in ballet, modern dance and tap dance, teachers Diploma in Modern Dance and Street Dance. Double honours in Associate Diploma Modern Theatre Dance and Advanced. Honours for Associate in Street Dance. Distinction in Modern dance, Tap dance. Advanced 1 Imperial Classical Ballet diplomas and dance degree. Carlista is a highly skilled dancer and dance instructor with a passion for dance. Over the past decade, she has participated in various international competitions and conventions, and has trained in aerial gymnastics and contortion. Carlista has taught for the past seven years and participated in numerous shows and events, including musicals, circus, and aerial shows. Her favorite experiences include performing at the CTICC for President Ramaphosa's event and the NFL event. She is scheduled to perform at the Artscape Theatre in the Legally Blonde Musical in February 2024 and choreograph and perform in the Sister Act Musical at the Somerset West Playhouse Theatre in March 2024.

Mike Choreographed for the ICC World cup in 2020, and still actively performs with the likes of Micasa, Jimmy Nevis & Blaze Johnson. An incredible dancer and choreographer with a passion for movement & teaching!

Qualifications
- Shami is a seasoned professional in dance and entertainment with contributions to various dance syllabi, and holds a judge certification for Hip Hop International South Africa, and Hip Hop Unite South Africa, Protea Coach 2023-2024. Her skills include dancing, choreography, and casting for music videos, commercials, and films. She is also trained by Popping Pioneer Popin Pete. For social media marketing and branding, she holds a UCT certification and manages social media for various departments. Shami has freelanced for Fusion Design ZA and is a brand ambassador for West Coast Way SA.
